AFTERSHOCK: Bring Me the Horizon concludes festival with a bang on Sunday

SACRAMENTO — Sunday’s final day of Aftershock Festival was all about spectacle, drama and shock rock.

Bring Me the Horizon

Already an established festival headliner in Europe, Bring Me the Horizon was long a bridesmaid but never a bride in the U.S.. The band’s 90-minute Sunday night set solidified its place as a marquee act after years of work.

The band’s set was similar to what it had been playing during its tour for POST HUMAN: NeX GEn. The difference was a much improved stage production. The set recreated a “Resident Evil”-style video game concept, complete with loading screens, menus and extended dialogue sequences. Faithful assistant “Eve” laid out the instructions to the crowd throughout the show.

The opening trio of “DArkSide,” “MANTRA” and “Happy Song” were packed with pyrotechnics shooting from every direction of the stage that was laid out like a velvet-laden church with stained glass windows…
