Chicago Alderwoman Arrested by ICE Agents During Hospital Visit to Detainee

A shocking scene unfolded Friday afternoon when Chicago Alderwoman Jessie Fuentes (26th Ward) was arrested by ICE agents inside Humboldt Park Health. She had stopped by to check on a man injured during an immigration arrest — but instead, she ended up in handcuffs herself.

According to witnesses, Fuentes was standing in the emergency room questioning agents about the legality of their actions when they ordered her to leave. Cell phone footage that quickly spread on social media shows agents grabbing her arm before cuffing her.

“This is a hospital. Do you have a signed judicial warrant for him? I am asking. I am asking. I did not touch you. I did not touch you,” Fuentes said while being cuffed. “That man has constitutional rights. I did not touch you. It is a public space. I am not trespassing. I am asking you do you have a signed judicial warrant?”…
