Dixon’s Apple Orchard makes annual trek back to New Mexico

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexicans love green chile, but a champagne apple from Dixon’s Orchard doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

The orchard no longer operates in New Mexico, but they say it’s the community that keeps them coming back. A wildfire followed by flooding in 2011 forced the apple orchard to move to Wisconsin.

“The fire was horrific. It took our home, our livelihood, everything around us, and then, of course, the flooding after was the final blow that we could not withstand,” said Becky Mullane, owner of Dixon’s Apple Orchard…
