ALBANY — A man was transported from a Central Avenue apartment complex to Albany Medical Center Hospital after firefighters battled a small blaze there.
The fire broke out in an apartment at 6:37 p.m. on Wednesday on the 12th floor of the Townsend Park Homes, a 158-unit high-rise located at 45 Central Ave., Fire Chief Joseph Gregory said. Crews arrived four minutes later.
Firefighters arrived at the property after a fire alarm in the building was triggered and later upgraded the call to a two-alarm fire, according to a social media post by Albany Permanent Professional Firefighters Association Local 2007, the union that represents Albany’s firefighters.
