Skoufis rips grocery delivery companies over proposed changes to price transparency bill in letter to Hochul

Drama in Albany over a bill seeking to increase transparency when it comes to grocery delivery apps has presumably reached Gov. Kathy Hochul’s desk.

Hochul is considering a bill which would require disclosures on third party grocrry delivery platforms to let customers know if they can expect a price hike by ordering online, and months after it passed, there is now an ongoing spat between big companies like DoorDash and Uber, and the sponsors of the bill, who have all gone to Hochul urging her to hear them out.

This spring, state Sen. James Skoufis and Assemblymember Bill Magnarelli rode a rather bumpy road to passing the legislation, which would require grocery stores and those delivery platforms such as Instacart, Uber and DoorDash to clearly disclose whether their online prices match in-store prices —and, if not, whether they are higher or lower…
