Man arrested after allegedly arming himself, inactive explosive device found: BPD

BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — A 46-year-old man was arrested by Bakersfield police on Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly armed himself with a gun inside his home near Buck Owens Boulevard, and police found what turned out to be an inactive explosive device.

At around 1:40 p.m., officers were called to the 3300 block of Rio Mirada Drive regarding a person with a firearm. The suspect was identified as Timothy Ratliff, 46, who is a convicted felon and is prohibited from possessing a firearm.

In the investigation, officers said they found an alleged explosive device inside Ratliff’s home. The BPD bomb squad was notified and responded. The device was determined to be inactive…
