Pedestrian hit and killed in early-morning crash in west Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A 28-year-old man was killed while walking across the street in west Charlotte, according to Charlotte Mecklenburg Police.

Just after 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 8, officers were called to Wilkinson Boulevard near Ashley Road for a crash. When they arrived, they found 28-year-old Travell Shamar Lamont Wats unresponsive in the roadway. He was taken to a local hospital where he later died, officials said.

Investigators believe Watts was walking across the street outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by a Kia Telluride. The Kia and its driver remained at the scene. The driver was also taken to a local hospital with minor injuries

The driver was not impaired and speeding does not appear to be a factor in the collision…
