Meat bandit strikes, man allegedly tries to steal $2K worth of goods: Report

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — An unidentified man attempted to steal approximately $2,000 worth of meat from Restaurant Depot in North Charleston, according to a news release from local authorities.

On Tuesday, around 4:52 p.m., North Charleston officers were called to 3600 Meeting St. in reference to a “panic alarm.” When on the scene, law enforcement spoke to two witnesses who were regional and corporate managers at the location and determined that a man loaded up his cart with $2,026.17 worth of meat before leaving the store, according to the police narrative.

When the suspect was confronted, one of the managers was able to recover $1,386.02 worth of meat while the individual fled the scene with $640 of merchandise, according to the North Charleston Police Department…
