Guilford County students find dog tied to a tree: ‘Looked like he’d been out here for a couple of days’

GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — A dog named Sheldon is recovering at Guilford County Animal Resource Center after he was found by Summerfield Charter Academy’s Cross-Country team.

What started out as a cross-country practice quickly turned into a rescue mission for some sixth graders and their coach.

“So we were out cleaning the course, and when my girls were running through this back loop here, we had ended up hearing the barking, and they were like, ‘Mrs. Emick, there’s a dog.’ I didn’t realize … there’s actually really a dog on our cross-country course,” Cross Country Coach at SCA Corinne Emick said…
