New roundabouts, upgrades coming to U.S. 65 between Buffalo and Warsaw

BUFFALO, MO – Some highway projects north of Springfield are set to begin in just a few months. Ahead of that construction, MoDOT is giving drivers a sneak peek of what’s to come.

The highway department is planning public information meetings later this month to discuss improvements to U.S. 65 in Dallas, Hickory, and Benton Counties.  The set of projects entails multiple upgrades to the stretch of highway between Buffalo and Warsaw.  The portion is the only remaining two-lane segment of the route between the Arkansas state line and Marshall, Missouri, just north of Interstate 70.  The rest of U.S. 65 between those points has been upgraded to four lanes (and in the case between Springfield and Ozark, 6 lanes).

The projects include:

  • Between Warsaw and Buffalo: Constructing nine stretches of alternating passing lanes and adjusting passing lanes in certain locations to improve safety.
  • In Buffalo: Building a roundabout at the intersection of U.S. 65 and Route 73
  • In Buffalo: Building a roundabout at U.S. 65 and Truman Road
  • South of Warsaw: Building a new roundabout at U.S. 65 Route 7

Construction on the passing lanes and roundabout south of Warsaw is set to begin in the Winter of 2026.  Work on the Buffalo roundabouts is scheduled to begin in winter 2027…
