CLAVERACK, N.Y. (NEWS10)– On Monday, troopers were requested at the Brookwood Secure Center for Youth in Claverack for reports of an assault involving four people. A day later, two inmates, an 18-year-old and 20-year-old Jahlil Califf, were arrested for assault.

Troopers said the alleged assault involved two suspects and two victims within the facility. A subsequent investigation determined Califf and the 18-year-old allegedly were cutting two other people in the face with sharp objects.
The 18-year-old was charged with first-degree assault, while Califf was charged with second-degree assault. Both inmates were also charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
According to investigators, both inmates were arraigned in Town of Claverack Court and remanded without bail to the Columbia County Jail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for October 13 at 4 p.m…
