GROVETOWN, Ga. (WJBF) – The City of Grovetown is remembering Charles Lord, 80, following his death.
In a post commemorating his life, a spokesperson for the city wrote, “His knowledge, commitment, and love for this City was nearly unmatched, and Charles passionately shared its history with any and all who had the pleasure of interacting with him.”
Charles Lord was named the Official Historian of the City of Grovetown in a ceremony in October 2021 where his contribution to his community was publicly recognized by Mayor Gary Jones and the city council.
Lord, in addition to being a member of the Grovetown City Council while in his 20s and helping to usher in the city’s first sidewalks, was best known as a long-time volunteer and contributor to the Grovetown Museum…
