Charleston’s 280 Meeting Street saved: community rallies to preserve small businesses

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Board of Architectural Review-Large held a meeting to discuss requests to modify structures in the city of Charleston, including 280 Meeting St.

Thanks to hundreds of community members in the neighborhood, three small businesses won’t be forced out because the building will be saved.

“If this space, this unique space, this warehouse space was lost, I think a great deal of people would see it rightfully as a tragedy and a sign that we’re moving in the wrong direction,” said Belvin Olasov, director of the Charleston Climate Coalition…
