CLEARWATER, Fla. (WFLA) — A 10-year-old boy was flown to the hospital Wednesday evening after suffering serious burns in a fire at a Clearwater home, officials said.
The fire started around 8 p.m. after the boy piled clothes on a hot plate in a bedroom at his home on Russell Street, according to preliminary information from Clearwater officials.
Clearwater firefighters and police responded to the residence. Authorities said the boy suffered second-degree burns and was flown to Tampa General Hospital for treatment.
