PHOTOS: Lt. David Godfrey recovers at York rehab facility

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A York County police officer injured last month is regaining his strength.

Lt. David Godfrey still needs assistance with walking at WellSpan Surgery and Rehabilitation Hospital in York. But pictures released Wednesday show the strides he’s made after spending weeks in an intensive care unit.

Godfrey, a K-9 handler with the York County Sheriff’s Office, survived a Sept. 17 ambush in North Codorus Township that killed three officers and injured another. The injured officer has already left the hospital, while Godfrey transitioned to the rehab earlier this month.

His rehab team said they hope to discharge him within a few weeks. He made a brief appearance outside the hospital last week to attend a spaghetti dinner honoring a retiring K-9 named Tommy…
