Ingham County opioid overdose deaths decline

LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — Opioid-related overdoses in 2024 dropped in half compared to 2023, a new report from the Ingham County Health Department shows.

The Ingham County Substance Use Surveillance 2024 Annual Report reveals that 48 county residents died of an opioid overdose in 2024. In 2023, 98 county residents died of an opioid overdose, while in 2022, 106 county residents died of an opioid overdose.

Two non-county residents also died of an opioid overdose in 2024, for a total opioid overdose deaths in the county of 50 people.

Another 31 non-opioid-related overdose deaths occurred in the county in 2024. Of those, 30 people were Ingham County residents at the time of their deaths. 1 person was not a resident of Ingham County…
