Cumru Township Police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a grandmother dead and her grandson in custody Wednesday morning in the 800 block of Scenic Drive.
Police said officers were dispatched around 10:25 a.m. for a report of shots fired. When officers arrived, they spoke with a resident outside the home before hearing additional gunfire. The officers moved themselves and the resident to safety and called for backup.
Officers and detectives established a perimeter and attempted to reach anyone inside the residence by phone and loudspeaker but received no response. The Berks County Emergency Response Team (BCERT) was then called to the scene…
