Middle Point Landfill gets seventh environmental violation of 2025

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (WZTV) — Another environmental violation has been documented at Middle Point Landfill, marking the seventh time this year state inspectors have cited the site for compliance issues.

The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) says during a recent inspection, leachate — a contaminated liquid that forms when rainwater filters through decomposing waste — was found entering dry run-off ditches on the east and west sides of the property.

A similar issue on the southern side of the landfill had been corrected just 20 days earlier. However, the new findings highlight a continuing pattern of violations involving runoff and leachate management at the site.
