WeGo launching fare-free program for low income families

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Nashville leaders are getting ready to launch a free transportation service for low income families as part of Mayor Freddie O’Connell’s “Choose How You Move” plan.

The city and WeGo are gearing up for an official announcement with more details, but they told News 2 it will be the first free fare transit program Nashville has ever had.

Low income families who are receiving benefits like SNAP and subsidized housing will likely qualify. Metro and WeGo are partnering with other organizations to help families sign up, like social services and the Metro Action Commission.
