PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WJAR) — The Providence City Council Committee passed an ordinance Monday night that limits how police can interact with federal ICE agents.
The ordinance now moves on to a full city council vote. If it passes, the ordinance would update the 2017 Community Relations Act.
“They’re not police officers, they don’t know what we do for work as far as what is legal and what is not,” said Mike Imondi the President of FOP Lodge #3. “To tell us we can’t aid or assist in any way or shape or form, I think you’re asking for problems in the city.”…
