Police: Student caught with loaded firearm at The Met School

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy who was reportedly caught with a loaded gun at The Met School Monday morning.

Kristy dosReis, a spokesperson for the Providence Police Department, told 12 News officers were called to the Public Street school around 11 a.m.

dosReis said staff informed the officers that a student was found to be in possession of a firearm on school property. It’s unclear exactly where the student was keeping the firearm or how it was discovered.

The student was taken into custody and the weapon was secured. He’s since been charged with possession of a firearm without a license and possession of a firearm on school grounds…
