SAN DIEGO — A new law in California will provide automatic admission to California State University campuses for high school seniors who meet specific grade and coursework requirements. Governor Gavin Newsom signed Senate Bill 640, which aims to streamline the college admissions process and boost enrollment at CSU campuses.
The law, set to take effect for the 2026-2027 school year, will allow qualified students to bypass the application process. Instead, they will receive acceptance letters for CSU campuses with available seats, according to a press release from the bill’s author, Senator Christopher Cabaldon.
