New Orleans District D voters will decide between a well-known incumbent and two challengers who pledge to improve basic services and infrastructure woes in a city each has called “broken.”
City Councilmember Eugene Green, business owner Leilani Heno and community activist Belden Batiste seek to represent a district that encompasses Gentilly and portions of New Orleans East, Lakeview, and the 7th and 8th Wards.
Incumbent Green is vying for a second term in the Oct. 11 primary with a campaign platform centered on bringing more resources to community-facing nonprofits and underserved areas.
