A man from Mexico who lost his license after a drunk driving arrest was nabbed when he was caught back behind the wheel.
An officer spotted 23-year-old Cesar Velazquez Portillo of Lady Lake in a pickup truck towing an enclosed trailer on Dixie Avenue around 6:10 p.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department. As it approached a red light at the intersection with Miller Street, the vehicle did not stop behind the stop bar.
The officer stopped the vehicle at Miller Street and Poinsettia Avenue. He asked Velazquez Portillo for his driver’s license, but he did not have one, the report said.
A check of his driving history showed his license had been suspended for DUI in 2022 and revoked for 180 days later that same year. He also had a non-judgement suspension from Jan. 2023, the report said…
