A routine traffic stop in Auburn turned into a major drug and weapons arrest earlier this month, according to police.
Officers with the Finger Lakes Drug Task Force and Auburn Police’s GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) team pulled over a vehicle near Clymer Street and South Street around 9:33 p.m. on October 3.
The driver, 61-year-old David G. Heffernan of Fleming, was taken into custody on an unrelated matter. During the arrest, police say Heffernan was found with a quantity of methamphetamine.
A passenger in the car, 51-year-old Beverly E. Wheeling of Auburn, was also detained. Officers say she had a loaded revolver and a quantity of crack cocaine…
