LUBBOCK, Texas — Every year, thousands of children are hurt or killed because of a driver. Kids and Car Safety is urging parents to follow a few important safety tips to help prevent theses accidents. Every vehicle has a blindzone in front, on the sides and behind it where small children cannot be seen by the driver, even when using their mirrors correctly.
Kids and Car Safety is urging parents to follow these few important safety tips:
- Children should always be directly and actively supervised any time a vehicle is being moved at the home and 100% of the time in or near parking lots.
- Always carry toddlers or use strollers or shopping carts in parking lots or near vehicles.
- Install childproof door knob covers on all outside doors of the home and pair them with stick on door alarms so you know if a child is attempting to sneak out of the house.
“One very important thing parents of young children can do is childproof their home so that their children cannot leave the house on their own by using childproof door knob covers and/or door alarms to be alerted if a child attempts to exit the home,” said Amber Rollins, Director of Kids and Car Safety.” She continued, “So many backover, frontover and other tragedies can be prevented if the child cannot exit the home on their own.”…
