Former Lubbock Police Chief Floyd Mitchell resigns from Oakland PD

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Former Lubbock Police Chief Floyd Mitchell has submitted his resignation to the Oakland Police Department, as reported by NBC Bay Area on Wednesday.

Mitchell resigned from the Lubbock Police Department back in September 2023 after criticism of the state of the department’s 911 dispatch. In 2022, more than 30,000 911 calls went unanswered. The minimum staffing for dispatchers was raised to eight in July 2023.
