San Antonio International Airport is cutting back its free parking for disabled veterans beginning Nov. 1 after years of concerns over the program’s growing price tag and a recent Federal Aviation Administration demand to scale back the offering.
Currently, disabled veterans and recipients of several military awards, including Bronze Star and the Distinguished Service Cross, can get up to 30 days of free parking at a time in any parking garage or lot at the airport.
But starting next month, only Prisoners of War and Purple Heart recipients will remain eligible for that perk, city officials announced at a news conference at the airport Thursday afternoon…
