SHREVEPORT, La. — The LSU Shreveport campus will shine bright Wednesday as a campus field transforms into a colorful balloon glow and festival open to both students and the public.
The event, hosted by the LSUS Foundation, features tethered hot air balloon rides, food trucks, and a screening of the movie Up. It runs from 5 to 8 p.m. on the north side of campus and aims to bring together students, alumni, and community members for an evening of celebration.
“Well, this is a nice way to bring people to campus,” said Charles Thompson, director of giving for the LSUS Foundation. “They get to see our beautiful campus. And everybody loves hot air balloons, right?”
The festival builds on a wave of school pride following major recent successes, including the Pilots’ national championship baseball season, which ended with an incredible 59–0 record. Thompson said the event is part of a broader effort to strengthen campus community and student life.
“Our campus housing — the apartments right next to it — are at full capacity,” he said. “So we want to give students something to do on campus to get more of that campus feel.”…
