DC crews knock down homeless encampment fire under Whitehurst Freeway

WASHINGTON (7News) — A large police and fire response shut down part of Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway early Thursday morning after a homeless encampment went up in flames.

D.C. Fire and EMS crews responded to the fire beneath the Whitehurst Freeway. U.S. Park Police told 7News the encampment was fully engulfed, and there were multiple propane tanks involved.
