Southern Idaho Man Sentenced to Life for Violent Crimes Against Family

NAMPA, ID – A Southern Idaho man has been sentenced to life in prison for a series of violent crimes committed against his family, including attempted murder and arson.

On October 8, 2025, District Judge Jonathan Brody sentenced 40-year-old Daniel Colon of Nampa to life imprisonment with a minimum of 25 years before parole eligibility, following his July 2025 conviction on eleven felony and misdemeanor counts. The charges included attempted murder, aggravated arson, and injury to a child.

According to the Canyon County Prosecutor’s Office, Colon’s crimes stemmed from a night of terror in which he strangled his wife, Tania Colon, before attempting to detonate an explosive device in her vehicle and set fire to their home while their five children slept inside…
