McCall’s owner responds to social media uproar over ICE rumors

ESTANCIA, N.M. – The owners of McCall’s Pumpkin Patch are on damage control after ending up at the center of a controversial social media rumor.

This all started with a letter sent out by the Albuquerque Teachers’ Federation last month, saying he supports using the Torrance County Detention Center to house people detained by ICE. Rumors then spread online, warning people that ICE agents would be at the pumpkin patch.

During the Torrance County commissioners meeting Wednesday morning, Kevin McCall, the owner of McCall’s Pumpkin Patch, and a Torrance County commissioner, said there is no connection between his outside and personal life, “What goes on there at the county level does not transpire over here to McCall’s Pumpkin Patch. And yeah, just that there is no connection. Yes, it’s the same person, but I wear two different hats and do two different decisions.”…
