Ada County seeks public help in identifying man in 1998 cold case

BOISE, Idaho — Nearly three decades ago, the partially decomposed remains of a man were found in a Boise canal. His identity remains unknown, and the Ada County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate to uncover it.

The remains were discovered submerged in the New York Canal near South Findley Avenue in Boise on Aug. 16, 1998. On Wednesday, the sheriff’s office asked for the public’s help in identifying the man.

“We’re asking for the public’s help to give this man his name back — and to help bring closure to his family,” the Ada County Sheriff’s Office wrote in a news release…
