There are concerns about Lake Erie’s water level, which is predicted to drop an incredibly large amount. But is it something that will impact the Western New York area? Does the lake level have any impact on the weather that we have, and could it mean a milder version of winter in Buffalo?
We finally got some heavy rain this week, and although it was a solid inch of rain in most places, it might not have been enough to offset the drought conditions that portions of the area were under before the showers moved in. It has been so dry that officials in New York State had to put a temporary burn ban in place until mid-October.
We are very lucky to live on one of the biggest bodies of fresh water in the world. The Great Lakes might be frustrating in the winter when they drop lake effect snow on us. But they are an incredibly amazing resource that we have, and we are obliged to keep them as healthy as possible
