Waiting List Open for Seven Studio Apartments at Park Alameda

Applicants with income between 35-50% AMI welcome to apply

The Housing Authority of the City of Alameda has now announced that seven studio apartments at Park Alameda are now available, and a waiting list for one- or two-person households to apply is now open. Park Alameda, located at 2428 Central Avenue, features a community room, courtyard, community garden, bike storage, gated car parking, and on-site laundry facilities. More information about the property and application requirements is available online.

Each apartment in the 61-unit building, which was built in 2011, includes a stove and refrigerator, and resident services are offered on-site. However, the building does not allow smoking or any pets other than service or companion animals. The building is a block away from Park Street and AC Transit bus lines O, 20, 21, and 51A.

Eligibility is income-restricted, as are the rents. There are three classes with open waitlists, based on their income level: 35% of Area Median Income (AMI), 40% AMI, and 50% AMI. There is an application fee of $28, and a deposit equal to one month’s rent is required.

For those with a minimum income of $2,330 per month, or 35% AMI, the rent is $930 per month. For 40% AMI, or a minimum income of $2,680 per month, the rent is $1,070. And for those with 50% AMI, or a minimum income of $3,377 per month, the rent is $1,349. The waitlist is open for all three income levels. Housing Choice Vouchers, Section 8, and other valid rental assistance programs will be considered for this property. In the case of a valid rental subsidy, the required minimum income will be based on the portion of the rent that the tenant pays after use of the subsidy.

The deadline to apply for one of the seven studio apartments is Monday, October 20, by 5 p.m. Applicants may fill out a form online or download a paper application from the information page and mail it back by the deadline…
