“Real Housewives of Potomac” Star Wendy Osefo and Husband Arrested on Charges Related to Alleged False Burglary Report
Finksburg, MD – Wendy Osefo, a prominent cast member on Bravo’s “Real Housewives of Potomac,” and her husband, Eddie Osefo, were arrested Thursday in Maryland after a grand jury indicted them for allegedly falsely reporting a home burglary and theft.
Wendy Osefo, 41, faces 16 charges, including making false or misleading information fraud and making false statements to an officer, according to court records. Her husband, also 41, faces 18 similar charges. Attorney information for the couple was not immediately listed.
A spokesperson for the reality star released a statement confirming that the Osefos are now back home and in good spirits. “They are grateful for the outpouring of concern and support from friends, fans, and colleagues,” the statement read.
“The Osefos, alongside their legal team, look forward to their day in court. At this time, they respectfully ask for privacy as they focus on their family and the legal process ahead.”
The Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reported that deputies were initially called to the couple’s Finksburg residence on April 7, 2024, following a report of a burglary and theft. The Osefos allegedly informed deputies that they had returned from vacation to discover their home had been burglarized, with jewelry, luxury goods, clothing, and shoes valued at more than $200,000 purportedly stolen.
However, during the subsequent investigation, detectives with the sheriff’s office uncovered discrepancies. Investigators found that Wendy Osefo and her husband had reportedly returned approximately $20,000 worth of the alleged stolen items to the stores where they were purchased. Furthermore, detectives discovered images of one of the Osefos wearing jewelry that had been reported stolen, captured after the alleged burglary occurred.
A search warrant was executed at the couple’s home, leading to their arrest on Thursday. They were released on Friday after posting bond.
Wendy Osefo has been a fixture on “Real Housewives of Potomac” since 2020. Eddie Osefo, who frequently appears alongside his wife on the show, is an attorney and the founder of the cannabis brand Happy Eddie.
Bravo did not respond to a request for comment on the matter Friday.
The arrests follow a period of legal challenges for other cast members of the reality series, notably Wendy Osefo’s co-star Karen Huger, who recently completed a one-year prison sentence for driving under the influence and other related charges.
