SafeNet Erie celebrates Domestic Violence Awareness Month amid funding uncertainty

Pennsylvania state representatives had a June 30th deadline to pass a fiscal budget. It’s now October and still no budget, which is impacting hundreds of organizations across the state.

SafeNet Erie is one of those organizations seeing impacts to their funding, which is putting victims of domestic violence at risk of losing services.

“This state impasse is really affecting us. We’re waiting for thousands of dollars from the state, and it affects victims,” said Robyn Young, SafeNet Executive Director. “SafeNet is continuing to operate, but it keeps victims in shelter longer, it affects some of the services we’re able to offer, and we really need to get this done. We need our legislators to come together to be able to solve this issue for us.”…
