Person arrested at hospital later dies in Forsyth County jail, police say

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — A person arrested Friday for allegedly trespassing at a local hospital died while in custody at the Forsyth County Detention Center, Winston-Salem police said.

Police said the individual was taken into custody after refusing to leave the hospital following discharge. Officers said no force was used during the arrest or while the person was in custody.

While at the detention center, the person experienced a medical emergency. Officers immediately rendered aid until jail medical staff, the Winston-Salem Fire Department, and Forsyth County Emergency Medical Services arrived. Despite lifesaving efforts, the person was pronounced dead, police said…
