In the early morning hours of a weekday, an attempted robbery occurred near 979 Brooks Road in Memphis, prompting a police response. According to the Memphis Police Department, the incident took place on Wednesday around 1:40 a.m. at the Circle K convenience store. The suspect, a male brandishing a handgun concealed within a trash bag, approached the southside doors, only to find them locked.
After encountering a barrier at the glass door, the suspect was instructed by employees to try the front doors. The suspect then moved to the front, continuing attempts to enter. When entry was again not gained, he brandished a black handgun at the cashier through the glass and demanded, “You know what this is, put it in the bag.” Due to safety concerns, the employees took cover as the suspect kicked at the front doors, according to the report by the Memphis Police Department.
The assault on the entrance intensified as the suspect struck the glass doors with his weapon, threatening the occupants. His actions resulted in one glass door being shattered and a bullet fired through the other. The suspect then fired three additional rounds into the building’s facade before fleeing.
