MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – Two Montgomery churches joined forces Thursday to provide healing and support for those affected by last weekend’s mass shooting that left two people dead and 12 others wounded.
Metropolitan United Methodist Church and its Beacon Center, along with First United Methodist Church Montgomery, hosted a “healing space” event for witnesses, first responders, and loved ones of the victims. The gathering offered participants a chance to rest, reflect, and restore following the traumatic incident.
Montgomery churches give sanctuary
Montgomery FUMC Pastor Jay Cooper emphasized the importance of community support during difficult times.
“The worst things in life are never the last things, that God is always faithful and true, and the church is a place truly of sanctuary where we can find comfort together, and hopefully maybe a sense of unity that we can walk forward, that we are better together and stronger together,” Cooper said…
