Things are complicated in the beef game, but some restaurants are finding ways to grow. Take Hurtado BBQ, for example. The Arlington barbecue restaurant has recently found itself in some untested waters with an appearance in a major television program and a quasi-franchise opportunity in a north Dallas suburb.
Last week, Hurtado BBQ launched a food truck operation at Oak Highlands Brewery in Richardson. While the truck doesn’t have the same real estate as Hurtado’s four brick-and-mortar locations, it does offer some of the restaurant’s signature items, like Texas Twinkies, birria tacos, and craft sausages.
Brandon Hurtado told Chron the brewery had reached out with the intent to partner. The deal between the two resembles a franchise agreement: Oak Highlands manages the truck while Hurtado’s staff cooks the food and trains the staff. The experience will likely inform Hurtado’s future growth…
