Taft interim city secretary facing criminal charges

Following an executive session during a specially-called meeting of the Taft city council on Oct. 9, the city has voted to provide legal representation funding for interim city secretary Jessica Gonzalez during the course of an ongoing legal matter related to her city duties.

Gonzales is currently facing criminal charges for allegedly failing to respond to a public information request, according to a report from KRIS 6 News in Corpus Christi. During a special meeting on Oct. 9 at City Hall, the Taft City Council approved a resolution that stipulates the city will provide legal representation funding for Gonzalez in her ongoing legal battle.

Upon the item coming up during the action items portion of the agenda, City Manager Ryan Smith moved for an executive session to determine whether the city would provide counsel. And following the executive session, it was then determined that the city will do just that…
