Plea hearing: Kan. murder suspect who hid from police for weeks

SEDGWICK COUNTY —A teen murder suspect, captured on June 17, after hiding from police for weeks will will return to court Friday.

Jaden Watts, 19, is scheduled for an arraignment hearing, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office. He may be asked to enter a plea for charges of second-degree murder in the March shooting death of 24-year-old Demarc Burgess.

In August, Judge Tyler Roush rejected a motion from Watt’s attorney to dismiss the case because the fatal shooting was in self defense, according to the Sedgwick County District Attorney’s office…
