To help youth and young adults who are experiencing or are at risk of homelessness, Pierce County Human Services, in partnership with the Pierce County Youth Action Board, is distributing more than $3 million to six community organizations.
The funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Youth Homelessness Demonstration Program will support the following programs:
- Tacoma Community House, Transitional Housing-Rapid Re-Housing, $837,703
- Multicultural Child and Family Hope Center, Transitional Housing-Rapid Re-Housing, $657,426
- Associated Ministries, Transitional Housing-Rapid Re-Housing, $607,374
- Harbor Hope Center, Transitional Housing-Rapid Re-Housing, $527,202
- The Brotherhood RISE Center, Mobile Outreach, $324,500
- St. Vincent de Paul, Coordinated Entry, $209,000
Alongside YHDP funding, the county was also chosen by HUD for the 100-Day Challenge, a national effort to end youth and young-adult homelessness.
“This 100-Day Challenge represents a focused, community-wide effort to make an immediate and lasting impact on the lives of young people in our county,” said Gary Gant, Human Services director, in a press release. “By bringing together our dedicated providers, community partners, and the invaluable perspective of youth with lived experience, we are not just planning, we are taking decisive action to ensure every young person has a safe and stable place to call home.”…
