The Russell County High Warriors delivered a commanding home performance last Friday, defeating Stanhope Elmore 28-10 in a crucial Class 6A Region 2 matchup. Quarterback Bryson Riggins threw for four touchdowns, while the Warriors’ defense stifled one of the area’s top rushing attacks.
Russell County set the tone early, driving 80 yards on its opening possession. Riggins capped the drive with a 5-yard touchdown pass to wide receiver Quentin Lewis. Kicker Justin Hernandez drilled the extra point to make it 7-0 with just over eight minutes left in the first quarter.
