A city of Erie memorial got some renovations ahead of the winter, all in the spirit of honoring local veterans.
The Erie County Veterans Memorial Park on State Street started its “Big Walkway” project over a year ago, and the project is officially finished.

The renovations were made possible by an Erie County grant, and Bill Welch, the president of the Erie County Veterans Memorial Park board, said that it connects each of their memorials throughout the park.
He said that they ran into a few holdups with permitting, but now visitors can honor their veterans a little more efficiently.

“It’s important — significant — for Erie County to remember those who have given their lives and who have served for our nation,” Welch said. “And this is what we do at this park to tribute, memorialize and honor those who came before in serving our country.”…
