Huntsville approves historic preservation project for Magnolia Terrace and Brothers Heights/Gurley Additions

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Huntsville city officials have approved a project to prepare National Register of Historic Places nominations for Magnolia Terrace and Brothers Heights/Gurley Additions, two neighborhoods north of Holmes Avenue and west of Pulaski Pike.

The $35,000 effort is funded through a Certified Local Government grant from the Alabama Historical Commission, which will cover 60% of the cost, with the city providing the remaining 40%. The project will document and evaluate more than 250 properties across the adjacent but distinct neighborhoods, which differ in age, architecture, and community identity.
