A Zellwood man was arrested for DUI after dumping liquid from a cup that smelled like alcohol before being stopped at Singletary Park.
An officer observed 52-year-old Clemente Shaveg Blocker driving a white Toyota pickup truck without a front left headlight at 12:45 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 4, according to an arrest report from the Leesburg Police Department. Blocker then dumped a liquid substance from his vehicle as he traveled southbound on U.S. Hwy. 27.
The officer subsequently stopped the vehicle at Singletary Park, located at 1902 U.S. Hwy. 27. He noticed Blocker had bloodshot glossy eyes and slightly slurred speech during the interview that followed. He also detected the odor of alcohol coming from Blocker and saw a white cup in the center cup holder, the report said.
Blocker was removed from the vehicle and asked to participate in field sobriety exercises. He agreed but performed poorly, as he swayed and did not follow instructions. He later alleged that the cup, which smelled like alcohol, did not belong to him, the report said…
