By the end of 2025, speed detection cameras will be installed at 10 North Port school zones after a split 3-2 Commission vote. Drivers who speed 11 mph above limits during school hours will face $100 fines.
“There is nothing more important than protecting the lives of our children,” said Commissioner Barbara Langdon, according to Fox 4.
Since the school year started, police have written 214 tickets in school zones. Police Chief Todd Garrison spoke bluntly, “Ladies and gentlemen, I have gone to those houses and I have delivered death notifications. We have had children struck in school zones in this city.”…
