County allots $8 million for local affordable housing

Dane County will award $25,279,999 in 2025 to help bring six affordable housing projects to reality, County Executive Melissa Agard announced last week.

These projects are being selected now through the Dane County Affordable Housing Development Fund (DCAHDF) so that developers can secure the full financing needed to begin construction. As projects finalize their funding and move toward closing—expected as early as late spring 2026—they will return individually to the County Board for final approval. Together, these efforts will create 494 new affordable housing units, including 374 in the City of Madison and 120 in the communities of Fitchburg and Mount Horeb.

The county has allotted $8 million for Oak Ridge Fitchburg development by Lutheran Social Services of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan, Inc. & JT Klein Company, Inc. – 80-unit senior development at Orchard Pointe Lot 11.
